Don't worry I am not dreading this month, just what I though the subject should be. It's a song!
1. Elder Farris is a great guy, he is so musically gifted it is crazy! He can play any song on the piano with only hearing it all the way through the chorus once, it is insane! But he just got a guitar mailed to him and man he jams hard on that also! He is way good! I told him to play I know my redeemer lives and he played it right there never having played it before! If that is not a god given gift i do not know what is!
2. Me and Elder Farris got to go on a trade off with the zone leaders and Elder Call came down and spent the day with us. He is an awesome guy! I learned so much from him! He is such an example of what kind of missionary I want to be as I progress through my mission! He told me I was heading in the right direction and that I was the perfect fit for training Elder Farris because he is a little "corky" which is very true! It is amazing how patient i have become over the last 6 months. and I'm grateful that i have become more patient because you need al ot of that to train an 18 year old! But still I love it!
3. Randy Whiteman is a guy we have been teaching for almost 3 months now! He practices Scientology.... so don't see too many of those in the bible belt and it is super interesting, but last Monday when we met with him I realized his progression! At first he wouldn't let us share anything! Now he is in 1 Nephi 20 and reads about 3 chapters a week; it is awesome! pPogress is progress no matter how slow! It was just noteworthy this week to see how far Mr. Whiteman has come since he first started!
4. Unfortunately we had another funeral for a ward member. We have had 6 in the last 6 months so it's been a tough time for the ward, especially the relief society! But it was a beautiful service for sister Sherri Smith. She had Parkinson for about 30 years so it was a good thing. but it was just great. A sister who was very close with her gave a talk about how much Sister Smith meant to her it was one of the best funeral speeches/ talks on the plan of salvation i have every heard! Man it was amazing! another super spiritual part was as they rolled the casket out the side door the sun was shinning so brightly on it and as it went through the white curtain hanging from the door with the sun it was so bright an beautiful and knowing that she was returning to her father that gave her life! makes you appreciate the plan of salvation especially Alma 40!
5. Brother Jim Smith was Sherri's husband and man did I learn so much from that man! He was totally grateful for her passing because he knew she was in a better place and now without all the medical problems that she had! He also served his wife faithfully for all 30 years she had that disease, he never left her side! Always watching her, especially when it got worse and she was bed ridden he took care of her so well it was amazing! It taught me lessons for when i get married (a long time away mom!) but how much i should care for that poor girl i trick into marring me ;) But also as we visited with him he gave a referral who was a hospice nurse for his wife. He said that now that his wife is gone he said that he promised to the lord that he would be a devoted servant doing whatever the Lord asked! He is a great man who has so much faith!
6. Lorenzo Johnson is a less active member that we have been working with for a long time, but man is that guy insightful. He is one of the most spiritually in tune men that I have met, it is awesome! He talked to us a lot about temptations, which was interesting topic! He read to us James 1: 2-4 which talks a lot about that and how temptations are to try your patience it really got me thinking. I have become a really patient person in the last few months but i have realized that the adversary has been trying to tempt me to try my patience. It also talks about how we should rejoice when we receive trails because it is God giving us an opportunity to show our strength or make us stronger, which is an amazing principle!
7. The Nelsons are a LA family we have been working really hard and really long hours with, but they are so awesome! They talked also about trials. At one point they all lived in a tent, that's how poor they were! They said that the Lord blessed them with a roof, family and food. So they go around sharing the message of Christ with everyone, just trying to be good Christians wherever they go! They truly love each other. They have showed how families as imperfect as you can get can still be homes filled with christ and love!
8. Brother McDaniels was a visiting speaker in the ward this week and he just did an amazing job! He talked about the parable of the 10 virgins, how we always needed to be ready! He then related the oil in the lamps to being worthy and having a temple recommend! Because when that day comes, when we need to go to the temple and the Lord is returning all those who can help you get to that point ie: bishops, stake presidents will be with the Bridegroom (Christ). He also talked about being bold in missionary work! He said that as a missionary he was so bold he invited the arch bishop of Dublin to church, but he lost that after his mission! So his challenge was to be bold go out there and invite them to come to Christ! As simple as coming to the primary program or a ward social! Expose them! I loved his talk, he is a great guy!
9. A not so top ten was I got sick! The sister missionary in the area, Sister Mckenzie was sick so I went to give her a blessing and 12 hours later I had the same thing as her! Man it was no fun just, a really bad cold! Couldn't walk more than 10 feet with out getting tired but don't fear, I am healthy and back to work!
- 10. Another not so top ten. So this is actually my least favorite thing that's is why it is a negative 10! LOVE BUGS they are the worst thing ever! They serve no purpose but all they do is reproduce and die! You never see a single love bug flying, thats' how they get their name! But their only predator is our windshield and my face when riding a bike! Oh and if you leave them on the car too long they destroy paint and they are so impossible to get off it is crazy! But got to love Florida!
Love all you and hope you are all doing great!
